Newton Shield Championship Final 2025 - Friday 11 July 2025 at Greenock Golf Club

The Finalists: Erskine Golf Club -v- Elderslie Golf Club

Perfect conditions, trophies polished, golf course in fantastic condition, and the teams Erskine and Elderslie were ready to go.  The semi-finals had been settled on Monday, tense encounters in glorious conditions, all four teams eager for a place in the final. The final was a clash between two teams, both previous winners, who had played very competitively in the ten league weekly matches. Erskine had not lost a match during the competition. The standard of golf watched by family, friends and supporters was excellent on a tough course. The teams were evenly matched sitting at 4 all after 8 holes.

Ultimately, Elderslie drew ahead and lifted the trophy for the 6th time. The final score was 4.5 to 3.5. Team Elderslie for the final: Craig Checkley, Rhys McIlroy, Ethan Lang, Mark McVeigh, Jack Tourish, James MacDonald, Robbie McLeod and Steve Leckie.
